- Hello! I am Marcy Miller. I am a Freshman at Indiana University where I am majoring in Secondary English Education with a minor in Counseling. My Counseling background aids in the classroom as I am better able to understand students' needs and tendencies regarding different instances. I am originally from Naperville, Illinois which is located right outside of Chicago. I come from a large family with three siblings; growing up with siblings really ensured in me that I love children as I always wanted to play 'school' and 'tutoring' with them when I was younger. My background coming from a large family has taught me great patience and understanding which can be directly applied to the classroom!
- My passion for teaching comes from a long line of very inspirational teachers. Teaching to me is the foundation of society, and my goal is to educate the future of our society. I also believe that English is crucial to any aspect of life, and you need to develop effective writing and reading skills to go about daily life. English is something that lies as the groundwork for our society, and it will never become insignificant because it is our means of communication and social construct. I have decided that teaching, specifically, High School English is my calling because I can appreciate the fundamentals of English that have already been laid in primary schools year, and we can take those skills and apply, analyze, and critique text at this level. I believe students learn best from engagement to better understand concepts that can be lectured about, and I make a priority to engage students to better their English skills.
